The Town of Ashland is pleased to announce that Mr. Matthew Reynal has accepted an offer from Town Manager Joshua Farrar to become the Assistant Town Manager. The Assistant Town Manager position has been vacant since Mr. Farrar accepted the role of Town Manager in February of 2017. Mr. Reynal has been the Operations Manager for the Town of Ashland since September 2015. Mr. Reynal received his undergraduate degree in Administration of Justice from George Mason University and is in the process of acquiring a master’s degree in public administration from the Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University.
Mr. Reynal has been involved in many aspects of the Public Works Department during his tenure in Ashland. He has led efforts to improve the aesthetic appeal of Town-owned properties, increased his division’s productivity through improved planning and reporting, and has been responsible for the Department’s emergency and special event support. He has worked closely with elected officials and citizens during the design of the future Town Hall. Mr. Reynal has also led the effort to develop a municipal-owned dark fiber network to improve the Town’s economic development conditions.
Mr. Reynal has been active in several professional and community organizations including the Virginia Local Government Managers Association, the Pocahontas Square Home Owners Association, and serving as a coach for his daughter and son’s soccer teams in the YMCA and Rockville youth leagues. Mr. Reynal, his wife Marcy, and two children Kendall and Cooper live in Rockville and are looking forward to continuing as active members of the Ashland community.
